About Björn Lindberg
Björn Lindberg lives and works in Stockholm.
"Not that I’ve photographed black motifs in particular, or that I've just gone for black/white productions. On the contrary. Most of my work is in color, where green has to be green and yellow, yellow. In color photos too, black must be black. And this is where the opportunities
- and the challenges - begin for the photographer.
I've followed contemporary food culture through the camera lens since the 1960s. I have seen food transformed from nutrition to a means of expression, from women's work to a social art, from regular tradition to professional innovation. So one day, there I was: black on the one hand, food on the other. Photographic art on the one hand, food art on the other. Can you eat black? Can you enjoy black? Can you cook black?
I raised the idea with chef Jonas Borssén, one of the few people I knew would understand pretty much where I was heading with this, and he responded directly. The result became a book. A photographic book about food? A food book about photography? You're welcome to decide for yourself. For me, it's simple - it's a book about the taste of black.
After the success of The Taste of Black it seemed only natural to photograph food of other
colors like red, yellow, green and white in a similar way. A selection of these photographs can be seen under The Taste of Color."

- 2007
- Vinets magi (The magic of the wine) received the award for ”Best Wine Book in the World 2006” from The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. More information can be found in the press release.
- 2006
- Måltidsakademien in Sweden was appointed Vinets magi (The magic of the wine), for the best book of the year, the best book of all.
- 2005
- The winner of General Public Prize "Les Lauriers Beaujolais de la Photo" Lyon, France.
The 'Beaujolais Laurels' for Photography' was the first International Contest of Culinary Photography. It was organised by 'Inter Beaujolais'. Twelve photographers from twelve countries, selected by a jury composed of professionals of the wine, cuisine and photography sectors, were asked to submit photos on the following theme: "The relationship between wine and gourmet cuisine".
